Mercadito's menu, notes Chef Patricio (NYC's Savoy and Picholine), is designed for sharing, but you'll probably be making hand walls like a selfish school nerd around your plates of grilled adobo chicken, ceviche, botanas and guacamole. It's the famous tacos, however, that'll have you threatening your table with a fork; choose from the pastor (chile ancho rubbed pork, pineapple, salsa), estilo baja (beer-battered mahi mahi, Mexican slaw and chipotle aioli) and the camaron (shrimp, chipotle mojo, avocado). Wood paneling runs on the ceiling and floor, a glass, garage-style retractable door guards the tequila lounge up front, and beyond the guacamole bar is the real bar where they sling traditional and contemporary Mexican cocktails concocted by the Tippling Bros.
