BlackBook Lowdown

Name means "market" in Catalan, limiting pretense. Wood tables, white subway tiles, peach-colored brick. Solid Spanish wine selection at lively bar in front. Seared and savory small plates, no shortage of olive oil. Sophisticated combos, potato and eggs gets its own bed of morels, chanterelles, and black trumpets. Addictive braised pork belly unexpectedly synchs with dried cherries. Open kitchen in back, so you can watch chefs finish their shifts with hits of wine off the porrón.

food was pretty good but not stellar, wines by the glass were overpriced and not that tasty, good for groups and dates, cool decor, more of an uptown 20-something / 30-something crowd hangin downtown. worth a visit, but not repeat visits.
