Catering to the health-conscious long before Whole Foods came on the scene, Merz Apothecary (open since 1875) has been supplying Chicago with homeopathic remedies for decades. This charming Lincoln Square storefront is filled to the brim with strange little bottles and pills containing every herbal remedy you can imagine. Also expect an impressive array of weirdly-named European bath products, fantastically-expensive-but-great-smelling candles, and a friendly staff that loves to talk about what ails you -- everything from warts to breast-feeding issues.
