Editorial Review

It's 2 a.m. and the clubs are closed in Deep Ellum. But the party's just starting at Metro Diner, across the street from Baylor Hospital. Strong black coffee, breakfast, burgers and some truly outstanding chicken fried steak are served up by cook-of-15-years Paul Lavigne. A cast of regulars calls this place home and it has the feel of momma's kitchen. Except the ones doing the sassing are the wait staff, veterans of the service industry. Save your quarters for a few plays on the  jukebox while you wait for the grub.
