San Francisco » Restaurant » Napa Valley » Sushi
When Iron Chef Morimoto hit wine country, he did so in grand fashion, with a restaurant that's an experience to be had. You are not thrust directly into the dining room but buffered from the street by a corridor that feels as if it's somewhere between an Asian art gallery at MoMA and a West Elm catalog. The decor inside has an eclectic modern feel with sculptural vine branches snaking along the walls and clean, contemporary surfaces. The sushi is almost besides the point, but it mostly hits, with a few touch-too-cute misses -- yellowtail "pastrami" or tuna pizza, anyone?
