Way out in Montauk on a ramshackle stretch between Hither Hills and Fort Pond, Navy Beach has the view of the sandy bay beachfront, which it is mere yards from, all to itself. Roadhouse primitive of the former occupant fit the slightly desolate surroundings, but the beach-house make-over complete with a 20-foot-long wooden bar and raw beams reclaimed from ships, while smothing out the rough edges, complements the killer sunsets (as do the creative cocktails). Coastal fare and comfort food are the main attractions. Seasonal seafood, lobster pot pies, burgers and chowders anchor the menu, but look out for weekly specials like a lobster bucket night (bucket of lobsters, bucket of fries and bucket of beers) to keep things interesting.
