Located right at the beginning of the Design District and right behind an old oak tree is this interesting new out-of-place restaurant that offers a simple, comfortable dining experience away from the bustling Uptown and Downtown areas. The simple yet elegant design is laid out in an intimate setting that's perfect for a date or a quiet night out. The crowd is upscale but not stuffy. The menu is the star here with appetizers not commonly seen like potato dumplings, Moroccan Octopus & Pork Jowls, Veal Schnitzel and Bandera Quail and the standard main course dishes like salmon, lamb and steak are available, with a few interesting exceptions that stand out like Mediterranean Bronzino and Organic Chicken Roulade. The signature cocktails are interesting as well, with namesake The Mighty Oak, a bourbon-based drink with mint, ginger, lemon and soda, being the highlight. There's also a full wine list and plenty of other bar staples. This is a great place to get away from it all and relax without physically going that far.
