Ports 1961 is the high-end, New York-approved version of Chicos, the "ethnic" mall store for moms who love tunics and statement jewelry. Designer Tia Cibani gets inspiration from a different geographic region each season, so her collections are always bursting with personality and color. You can imagine, to that end, the difficulty in outfitting a flagship. Wisely, the company went with classic fittings and furniture that didn't stick out. On the warm side there are walnut floors and handmade carpets, and to make things a little more slick, floating lucite shelves and floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Aw, mom!
