Ristobar

Editorial Review

Named for tiny bar/café/restaurants on side streets in Rome and Napoli, where Italians gather to spread neighborhood gossip and talk about futbol and not paying taxes. SF version is for working professionals to hungrily devour artisanal pizzas and Italian beer after leaving stressful, screen-intensive jobs. Not exactly la buona vita, but we'll take it! From owner/pastry chef Gary Rulli and head chef Angelo Auriana, occupies former corner spot of Emporio Rulli café, kept the best design touches (marble bar, chandeliers) and ditched the rest. Fresh, aromatic pizzas are real draw -- outstanding, perfectly charred thin crust with minimal but flavorful toppings.
