André Balazs shifted focus to the Standard, turning over his Hotel QT to the able hands of the Spanish Room Mate chain. The whole "Grace" character is cutesy, but personable staff and great customer service are all that. Prices can be budget-friendly (although they're jacked for peak times), rooms are small but well designed. Lobby scene goes off, with indoor pool and nightly DJs. Fun, young, central, stylish. Knows its demographic -- free breakfast served until noon.
