Sam's Town is a sprawling, Disney-Western-themed, family-friendly, budget casino. Why the Killers chose to name an album after it, we have no idea. The theme of Sam's Town is literally an old pioneer town, a theme that goes particular overkill in the enormous atrium that most of the (somewhat depressing) rooms face onto, where animatronic bears, owls, and mountain lions twitter, roar, and wave their claws in clockwork fashion. The other claim to fame for Sam's Town is its enormous 24-hour bowling center, where the annual Punk Rock Bowling tournament takes place every January. If you can't wait for that (they even change the lounge acts to punk bands), there's always the old-school R&B parties on Fridays. Or you can see what's up over at the 18-screen movie theater, check out the food court, maybe visit the adjacent RV park. Or you can just hit the $1 poker, have a $2 beer, and laugh at the mechanical bear.
