Tucked down a relatively serene stretch of W. 47th Street, Sanctuary is genuinely boutique, with just 111 rooms, \ all about aesthetic extravagance. The awe-inspiring neoclassical columns flanking the entrance act as appropriate visual preview. Inside, art-adorned spaces are done up in elegant oranges and cognacs, and peekaboo showers make for all manner of naughty possibilities. The deliciously sexy Sanctuary Sweet (as in suite) is done up in a gloriously opulent but mod French Empire style. The grand flourishes continue through to the fireplace-adorned lobby lounge and bar, with oodles of terrazzo and marble.
