If the eyes are a window to the soul, then the lobby serves the same function for a hotel. Walking into the Scandic's newest gem, the Grand Central, transports guests from the bustling boulevard outside to a haven for art, design, theatre and music. Plush velvet couches and mismatched vintage furniture and décor decorate the casually chic lobby. Swede darling Mattias Edwall's photographs of influential and creatively-driven Scandinavians flank the walls. Rooms fit with the tempo and offer a minimalistic-meets-cozy stay. Hotel bar is a neighborhood watering hole for artsy professionals and lounge upstairs offers live music on a nightly basis. Although the historic building dates back to 1885, everything in here is perfectly curated and seamlessly contemporary.
