BlackBook Lowdown

One of three London Great Department Stores with Harrods and Harvey Nichols but much cooler. Opened by American Gordon Selfridge in 1909, this is ultimate Oxford Street destination store. Known as a landlord of brands, Selfridges has a huge selection of mid-to-high range food, clothing, footwear and accessories with it's own Miss Selfridge clothing label. Designers and artists come here for inspiration, and it's not hard to see why, as recent ‘wonder room' gets regularly updated with new and fantastic designer wares. Food hall fabulously stocked with local and foreign foods from around the world. Minimum of 15 bars, restaurants and cocktail bars inside. Allow 2-3 hours for perusal.
