Sendai

Editorial Review

An uncrowded joint that gets it right, probably because it's been in the family so long. When patrons roll up to sit at the wood counter, hand over their trust to the sushi man/owner, he quietly, surreptitiously observes reactions. You'll smile at him and he'll return back a shy one, setting the mood. Chats are so self-consciously quiet, Buddha would likely eat here. Wooden chairs' backs even look like mini Japanese temple gates, giving entrance into the sublime.
