Landmark English-language bookstore on the river’s left bank. Good collection of fiction, travel, and lots else. Upstairs library lets you read for gratuit, and also houses a nighttime collection of starving writers (incl. Henry Miller) who sleep for free. Once a gathering place for the beats, the modern-day shop shares the mic with Jonathan Safran Foer, Jeanette Winterson, and other contemporary writers.
