Boutiquey 60-roomer just off Fort Pond benefits from a recent refresh of the '20s-era Shepard Neck Inn. Pretty posh by Montauk standards. Prices remain a little lofty, but amazing what a fresh paint job, a few iHomes, and nice rugs can do. Summer of '09 has resto hosting ANIMAL pop-up, an L.A. import that swept up national Food & Wine awards last year; should give locale some local cache.
