Bordering Golden Gate Park, built by slick saloon owner in 1905 in spurt of Queen-Anne-meets-Beaux-Arts Classicism. Airy rooms in pink and sage that cosset cultivated clientele. Cupola rooms with four-poster beds, suites with parlors and kitchenettes. Hike through the fields where bison roam, or don a kimono and visit the Japanese Tea Garden. In the happnin’ Haight District, but a loooong bus ride to downtown.
