The new Swan & Edgar makes no shame of its Englishness, having sent an open call to Londoners for donations of old books and tweed. Everyone from Penguin Publishing to Savile Row patriotically ponied up, resulting in a club filled with furniture charmingly fashioned from said tweeds and a bar constructed entirely from tattered tomes, so you can have a tipple on Tennyson. With classic English food (and “serves” rather than cocktails), the Swan will stage regular readings and book signings, making it a sure hit with the literary glitterati.
