East End restaurateur David Lowenberg's (co-owner of The Beacon, red|bar brasserie, little|red and Fresno) empire has annexed the old Oasis digs. Joined by executive chef Sam McCleland of The Beacon, the concept is inspired by Sag's maritime history, yet "airy, elegant and dressed in shades of white and sea-green." Dichotomous design goals aside, McCleland's menu seems to straddle the salty but stylish divide with items like The Crabby Oyster: baked local oyster, crabmeat, and citrus beurre blanc and a cioppino with white fish, shrimp, mussels, calamari, chiles, and tomatoes. Knowing Lowenberg's personal passion for wine, the cellar is stocked to the gills and that Sag's celebrity quotient will be arriving in droves.
