The Standard East Village

Editorial Review

The IAC building's eastside twin now in André Balazs's competent hands. Twenty-one glossy stories somewhat awkwardly crammed in around crumbly E.Vill tenements. Oriental rug and black settee in lieu of reservation desk in the low-key lobby. Upstairs, small, clean rooms, as sleek and modern as you'd expect for a $115 million build out. Vintage Housing Works books on the shelves in case you get bored with your copy of Lush Life. Not much this big nearby, guaranteeing sick views all around. Courtyard rooms for penitents and other quiet-seekers.
