The flagship casino of revitalized downtown, this sixty-year-old property recently underwent a $160 million top-to-bottom renovation. The centerpiece is a Diamonds Are Forever-esque pool complex built around a three-story shark tank with cabanas on top, a blackjack tables alongside and a water slide runningthrough it. Throughout the casino, thick carpeting, flattering lighting, and cushy leather seating draw higher bets than elsewhere on Fremont Street—the poker room may have hosted national tournaments, but there’s still plenty of 25-cent slots. The crowd is largely professionals in their 30s and/or young families wholike the unique history and lower prices of downtown, but don’t want to give up Strip-level accommodations. Rooms are decorated in dark, neutral tones with streamlined furniture, modern art, and the ubiquitous flatscreen TVs. Small, Victorian-themed spa is a local favorite.
