Often described as exceedingly posh. Queen mother used to pop in for afternoon tea and it's not difficult to see why with elegant (traditional but not chintzy) décor, wonderfully warm efficient staff and largest private hotel garden in central London. Beautifully decorated rooms and marble bathrooms with famous towel warmers make you feel like a guest in English country home. Concierge service is reputedly one of best in the capital.
