It's tough to get this close to the center of the village of East Hampton and feel this far removed. The building has been an inn since the 1800s and you feel the history in the walls. Guest rooms, while clean and modern in amenities after a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2008, still speak with a certain regal air. A visit to the property is like strolling through some lost P.G. Wodehouse novel set in a whimsical countryside.
