As the name behind several TV series and recipe books, it is sometimes hard to remember that Hammersmith’s River Café is still a damn fine restaurant worth trekking out west for. Its reputation was built on simple, unpretentious Puglian dishes such as carpaccio of sea bass or slow-roasted rabbit with rosemary; and, more than 20 years after it first opened, it’s still a London favourite.
