Editorial Review

Spain is the name of the game at this West Loop wine bar, owned by husband and wife duo Mark and Elizabeth Mendez (the former was previously chef at Carnivale). Named after Mark’s grandmother, as well as Spain’s signature smoked paprika, this spot draws attention to sherry wine and Spanish cuisine. To drink, the wine list is 100 bottles strong, and there’s artisanal cider and beer to boot. On the menu, dishes cover various regions in Spain, with options such as beef tripe with morcilla and garbanzos; paella with duck and rabbit chorizo; cheese plates, highlighting both Spanish and Midwestern favorites, and other shareable dishes.
