Waldorf Hotel

Editorial Review

Renovated mid-century Polynesian beauty of a hotel with great bones and spectacular curves. Keeps luxuries to a minimum but scores huge for fun, even supplying a whimsical “island” map to all their restaurant & nightlife options. Artful everywhere, from the hippest magazines to vintage cassette decks cued up with live, on-site recordings of DJ sets from Vancouver luminaries, like artist Stan Douglas or writer Doug Coupland. Terrific food at Café Nuba, and besides the stunning Tiki Bar, cabaret and “hideaway,” there’s also a liquor store, gallery shows, a snack-packed gift shop and a hair salon set to reopen next year. Why go downtown?
