In Denver, the brew pubs are many, but few boast real governmental cred. Not so Wynkoop, which was owned by Mayor Hickenlooper before his ascent to stardom. Join the Darwinistic struggle of buttoned-down bankers, lawyers, and tourists tucking in to pub food and sucking down pints of local microbrews. The Wynkoop is pure Lodo with multi-story splendor and big, dark-wood bars. Come for the booze, stay for beer-soaked food, including exceptional gorgonzola ale soup.
