It may look like a Vancouver side-street, but the Far East feeling is strong in this elegant space, transforming a nondescript lobby bar into a hot cocktail lounge. Keeping the temperature and the welcome warm, servers clad in bespoke cheongsams, live entertainment on the Fazioli grand piano and devastatingly good nibbles, including lamb kebabs and crispy shrimp with emulsified chili. But it’s the famous Blue Willow china afternoon tea service and bravura cocktails that make this a destination, especially their signature Iron Lotus, a tribute to the bar’s namesake Chinese goddess, which is as potent as it is beautiful.
