New York » Restaurant » Uptown Manhattan » Ethiopian
Forgive us for thinking Ethiopian lacks a certain sophistication—what with the whole fingers-for-utensils thing, and typically shabby-not-so-chic digs. Harlem's Zoma throws the frumpy rep for a loop, though, with sleekly contemporary African décor, hip staff, and killer eats. The menu is chockablock with robust, saucy, exquisitely herbed and spiced meats and veggies, which all seem to complement each other. Identifying individual flavors can be challenging, but why sweat it when there's tangy injera aplenty, and an unforced cool that keeps us hanging on.
