McQ22

A young Elvis Presley would have definitely appreciated the latest menswear collection from Alexander McQueen's lower-priced diffusion line, McQ. Just like the King's signature style, this range is a mash-up of iconic looks from the '50s, from rockabilly to Ivy League, to western outlaw. To save from being too literal, looks are infused with modern touches, like this beige moto jacket thrown over highwater pants and a bolo tie.

Just one look at the numbers for the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition that recent closed at the Met, and you'll immediately understand exactly how big an artistic and monetary success it was. Now that the retrospective has closed up shop in the states, many Londoners are hoping the Costume Institute show will head to the city where McQueen was born. Thanks to social media and some swift petitioning by Grazia fashion editor-at-large Melanie Rickey, the request could be granted just in time for the fashion house's 20th anniversary.

Alexander McQueen's will was made public Tuesday, and while the late fashion designer left most of his $26 million estate to charities, he also put aside a large chunk for the upkeep of his dogs. Minter, a mongrel, Juice, an English bull terrier, and Rhodesian ridgeback Callum received $82,000 in the will for their care. McQueen, who was something of an animal lover, also donated about $165,000 to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and The Blue Cross, two animal-centric organizations.

A safe place for extravagant taste, the annual Costume Institute Gala is the ultimate platform for fashion's finest to bring their sartorial A-game. Considering last night's Met Gala was a tribute to Alexander McQueen, we were surprised to see only a handful of guests wearing his famously outré designs. In fact, many attendees played it safe this year, which only made the risk-takers shine even more on the red carpet. One guest who didn't skimp (does she ever?) was Anna Dello Russo, who wowed in a tuxedo by Sarah Burton topped off with a glitter egg fascinator. See a few other gala surprises after the jump.
