When Das Racist performed at BlackBook’s 15th anniversary party last week – a labor of love they totally took seriously – Victor Vazquez’s beard appeared a fluffy chin-nimbus, while Heems’ ‘hawk flopped to and fro with each pull off his joint. Not that the hip-hop trio’s hair should particularly interest you (leave that to their scintillating live performances), but if you’re fans of Das Racist – and we are – then you notice everything. Like this new video on Details’ website. Is that a Hitler moustache, Kool A.D.? Watch as Das Racist has a completely sober conversation about Fader, the “singles game,” and Kantian metaphysics.

You know that mystery chef we mentioned -- the blind recluse opening a 52-hour popup restaurant in Chelsea next month? Well, he doesn't exist. Or rather, he does exist, and his name is legion. That's because he's a culinary amalgam of 13 for-real superchefs, all contributing their talents and grub to 13 individual seatings for Le Grand Fooding NYC 2011. You would be well advised to buy from our special allotment presale tickets, available as of right now. But who exactly makes up the exquisite corpse of the mythical Nikoalan Nselurfueymardcora?

Yesterday we repeated a rumor that a mysterious, mostly unknown superchef would soon make his public debut at a pop-up restaurant in New York. Deliberate prodding has revealed a few more details, such as the proper spelling of his name (it's not "Nicholas Enslerfymarcorn"). We were also sent a cellphone shot of an illustration of the chef himself, which as you can see is ... not that useful. Yet.

Just as there are comedians' comedians, there are chefs' chefs. These gourmands may toil in obscurity their entire lives or bask in the approbation of the public as well as their peers, but their manic focus on cuisine makes these concerns secondary. Such chefs are invariably their own worst critics, even as they deny anyone else the authority to criticize. And just such a chef, we hear, will next month drop his career-long invisibility cloak and cook, publicly, for more than two days straight somewhere in Chelsea.
