Digital marketing and research hub L2 has just released their latest Digital IQ Index fashion study that "diagnoses the digital strengths and weakness" (as the site says) of 49 top brands. Based on four categories -- Site (functionality and content), Digital Marketing (search, display, and email marketing efforts), Social Media (brand presence, community, and engagement on major social media platforms), and Mobile (marketing on smartphones and other mobile devices) -- the lengthy study provides a fairly comprehensive overview of where these brands stand in the digital age. We won't bore you with the analytics (a link to download the report is after the jump), but we did round up the complete brand ranking 1-49. Guess who won the top spot?

At least someone is cracking down on designer fakes. Last year, luxury fashion houses Louis Vuitton and Burberry filed suit against three Canada-based companies - Singga Enterprises Inc., Carnation Fashion Company, and Altec Productions - for selling replicas of their handbags and accessories online and in-store beginning in 2008. Proving that trademark counterfeiting is a serious matter, the Federal Court of Canada has awarded Vuitton $1.4 million and Burberry $1.1 million (CAD) in damages. This is a huge victory for both companies, and a groundbreaking counterfeit and copyright case for Canada.

H&M just announced that it has partnered with Lanvin again to create a children's line for the All for Children initiative. This September, the collection will be available online and in 150 H&M stores worldwide. H&M calls the clothes "updates of well-loved classics, giving them a contemporary twist." We call them delightfully sophisticated, but only if you've got the cash to spare on your spoiled progeny and need the charitable component to assuage your bourgeoisie guilt.

Representatives from Burberry, ASOS, and Topshop were among the attendees at ASBCI's latest workshop on sizing and fashion technology. The two-day event, held in the UK, featured a hands-on introduction to the latest shape scanners, pattern generation systems, and new digital practices that will help achieve precise sizing in apparel and footwear. As we all know, an ill-fitting garment can really kill your look (and overall mood), so designers targeting perennial sizing conundrums is a sight for, well, sore eyes.

Given the amount of stories we've covered on the subject, 2010 was definitely the year of e-commerce. And while some designers have yet to embark on the prime real estate that is the internet (John Galliano recently stated he's not a fan), companies like Burberry and Chanel have embraced the concept whole-heartedly, launching their own respective mobile applications. In fact, Burberry took it to the next level during their spring/summer 2011 show at London Fashion Week: On September 21, select visitors in their 25 worldwide flagship stores experienced "Burberry Retail Theatre"—a live stream of the fashion show followed by the ability to purchase the collection directly from the Burberry iPad app (pictured).

I used to have my boyfriend walk behind me and cup my ears when it was cold. But it became pretty difficult for him while holding my purse and shopping bags. I priced out prosthetic arms for him and that was pretty costly, so I looked into other options. I searched high and low and stumbled across these handy little things called “earmuffs.” Now my boyfriend can hold my purse, shopping bags, and my coffee. Life is pretty much perfect now. Add one last thing to your holiday wish-list and make it easier on your man and your ears this winter with these adorable styles. Like these cozy Burberry Cashmere Check Earmuffs for $175.

Another great idea from Burberry: a singing holiday e-card! Watch Johnny Borrell from Razorlight perform "Can’t Complain About Christmas" in an exclusive acoustic set. Every time you email the e-card, along with your own personalized message, a donation will be made to the Burberry Foundation, which helps "young people realize their dreams and potential through the power of their creativity." What better way to say “Happy Holidays” than with music?

You'll be glad to hear that there a few trends that will be sticking around for 2011. Including lace, leather, and '70s glamour a la Halston Heritage. Thank goodness. After the taxing (literally) holiday season, this means less new clothing to buy. "Biker chic" is hanging around, so you can hold onto all of your leather pieces. Several collections, including Burberry's 2011 line (pictured), are heavy on leather and motorcycle jackets. I'm definitely digging the dual tones and quilting.
