The first real trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus, dropped today, and it's like a checklist of cool stuff: people yelling, people screaming, some space ships, explosions, and Charlize Theron in a towel. There are a bunch of ominous looking locales (never trust a giant head made out of stone), as well as the most foreboding tagline of all time: "They went looking for our beginning. What they found could be our end." Shivers!

On Monday we shared the trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman, the action-adventure version of the fairly tale featuring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth in the title roles and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Today we have the first look at Mirror, Mirror, Tarsem Singh's take on the story starring Julia Roberts as the wicked villainess. Which will be the Armageddon and which will be the Deep Impact of these dueling Snow White movies? Check out the trailer after the jump.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the baddest bitch of them all? Apparently, it's Charlize Theron (sorry, Trina), who is already stealing the show in Snow White and the Huntsman as the Evil Queen. The film already looks like a visual masterpiece, and it seemingly comes out of left field (probably from the same place where its unknown director, Rupert Sanders, has been hiding). But the crux of this clip is Theron, who is center stage despite being the only main character who's not name-checked in the title. Check out the trailer after the jump.

The bitter NYC winter is officially here. To be honest, as a native Californian, I am NOT doing well with it. I’m literally putting on four layers of clothing and still shivering like an anorexic chihuahua. I always had these fantasies about all the ice skating I would do for my first winter in NYC. The closest I’ve come is sliding across an ice slick in my four-inch heels on Lexington. To add insult to injury, upon arriving at my destination I looked in the mirror to find my bangs gone poodle-kinky in mere minutes. Ugh. Winter wonderland fantasies kaput within hours of our first flurry of the season. Rough start for my debut NYC winter. Luckily, as fate would have it, on my way home I saw Charlize Theron in a Uniqlo ad.

Many, many people seem to outright despise Oscar winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. On any given day, the message boards on her imdb page fairly seethe with vicious, ad hominem attacks. She’s fat. Talentless. A one-hit wonder. A blight on the cinematic landscape. I’ll admit I’m not much of a fan myself, but I can’t get behind these arguments either. She’s no hack, and as for her physical proportions, it’s probably worth nothing that a.) she’s not an actress, and b.) she just gave birth to a baby boy not six days ago. (Congrats!) The haters, of course, will likely go on hating, but for all their collective sour-grape-y ire, her career still seems to be in the ascendant—Jennifer’s Body notwithstanding. Cody’s got a new talk show she’s hosting, and another feature in the works that will again pair her with golden-boy director Ivan Reitman.

Tom's footwear has been having quite a fall. Just last week the company was awarded the US government's seal of approval by way of the ACE award -- the Award for Corporate Excellence. Blake Mycoskie's brainchild, which donates one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair sold, has also teamed up with Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus to stock a higher-end capsule collection fashioned with significantly more luxurious fabrics. Now Tom's is working on a brand new collaboration with one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Vogue's September issue cover may have leaked and, if so, actress Charlize Theron has landed the coveted title of cover girl for the fashion magazine's biggest annual issue. Although that's figuratively speaking of course, as this year's ad sales are the lowest Vogue has seen in years (meaning the issue is 200+ pages thinner than the infamous September issue documented in the soon-to-be-released RJ Cutler documentary). Sadly, little feels special about the image itself; it's the same close-up of an actress from the waist up in a formal gown we've seen from Vogue for years.
