Pulp

Aging hipsters of the country, unite: following their recently announced set at Coachella, reunited Britpoppers Pulp have added a few dates in New York City and San Francisco. They'll play NYC's Radio City Music Hall on April 11 and San Francisco's Warfield on April 17, with Coachella dates smushed in between and after. It's been a long time coming -- Spin notes that Pulp last played New York on June 16, 1998, San Francisco on May 21, 1996. God willing, it'll be a shorter time before the next show.

And yea, the children will come from miles around to sweat in the desert, take colorful drugs and listen to reunited Swedish punk bands. Two of the biggest surprises in the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup announced on Monday were reunion shows from Refused and post-hardcore cult favorites At The Drive-In, who broke their 11-year silence on Twitter.

While you were sitting in your unfashionable apartment trying to watch a choppy stream of The Strokes' set at Coachella this weekend, Christopher Mintz-Plasse was busy at the actual Coachella, gladly assuming the role of McLovin' and getting mega-laid because of it. But he isn't the only human being who used their celebrity to have an above-average time in the desert. Here's a breathless roundup of the kooky shenanigans those crazy Hollywood kids got into at the annual music and arts festival.

Spending three days in 900 degree weather isn't everyone's idea of fun, but the combination of good music, open bars, and free swag at Coachella never ceases to lure partygoers from across the globe to the desert outside LA. Besides booze, said heat was only tolerable if you planted yourself in a shady area and had your friends fetch you more booze (and gift bags) as you fanned yourself energetically - or if you wore a hat. From conventional styles, like model Dorothea Jorgensen's take above, to more avant-garde looks, just about every lass this weekend was rocking a version of everyone's favorite sun-shielding accessory.

No one ever really thought a Clash reunion was a great idea. After all, middle aged men hitting the stage hollering, "I wanna riot" is a tricky proposition. But Mick Jones' brilliant post-Clash project Big Audio Dynamite was insulated from nostalgia by dint of being a steadfastly futuristic undertaking from the get. Indeed, they were arguably sampling's most prolific pioneers. And their lyrics didn't so much call for Thatcher's march to the guillotine (as did those of one Steven Patrick Morrissey) as they did figuratively dump her on the political garbage heap of history.

Didn’t manage to snag a ticket to this year’s sold-out Coachella? You’re not alone. But you may still be able to squeeze in a weekend of festival fun thanks to a few parties taking place tangentially (though not officially) related to the music festival. The massive bashes of years past seem to be out of fashion, with smaller private parties supplanting big-brand sponsored soirees. That said, there are a few open-to-the-public events going down, and they're a lot cheaper than a $500 dollar wristband scored on Craigslist. Here are a few of the best bets in the desert for those heading out sans tickets. Act fast: These are likely to fill up almost as fast as the main event.
