While in town for the opening of the revamped Dior flagship boutique, John Galliano took some time out with Women's Wear Daily to discuss everything from casting celebrities in his campaigns to his surprise birthday party thrown by Kate Moss. But one thing that caught my attention from the interview was his ardent support for fresh talent, especially a young English designer named Paul Harnden. "You’ll find his stuff in [Paris boutique] L’Eclaireur. I’ve told my French friends and they’ve gone in there to try and find out about him, but he’s very Greta Garbo. He does that rough kind of tweed and stuff. I buy all my stuff from him," Galliano reveals. Under the label Paul Harnden Shoemakers, his website doesn't give away much, but I discovered a thread over at The Fashion Spot that confirms the mysterious designer has a cult following for his very worn-in, old times-inspired collection of clothing, footwear, and accessories. Apparently he's also designed footwear for Japanese cult label Comme des Garçons.
