Just because winter is well on its way, doesn’t mean we must succumb to languid locks and reptilian skin. On the contrary, this year we’re determined to achieve the perfect “winter glow.” We’ll let you know how that goes. In the meantime, we recently caught up with a few ladies for whom looking good is officially—or unofficially—part of their job descriptions. Oh, Daphne Guinness. If you told us your dabbling in cosmetics was inspired by virgins' tears or cyanide, we'd believe you. Fortunately for us, the real inspiration behind your MAC collection is so much weirder than anything we'd imagine. Channeling the "whispered luxury of an antique Chinese porcelain vase" and "pigeon's blood," Ms. Guinness also hopes to evoke "how the intricate wings of a butterfly resemble the images of deepest space."

The private unveiling of Tom Ford's womenswear collection after a six-year hiatus was definitely the news that generated the biggest buzz this past fashion week. Privileged guests invited to the intimate event were refrained from taking photos and were asked to withhold detailed reviews of each look until the official release. What ultimately wasn't a secret was the model line-up, which included a range of influential women like Beyoncé, Daphne Guinness, and Lauren Hutton, whom Ford hand-picked and introduced with every garment himself during the presentation. "It’s about individuality. Real clothes, real women. For a fashionable woman aged 25 to 75. That’s why I literally put many of my own muses in the show. I hear them say, 'God, I can’t find that anywhere!'" Ford tells Vogue in an exclusive interview.

Daphne Guinness' inimitable fashion sense is kind of like ice cream cake -- it rarely ever disappoints. With closets full of couture and decidedly avant-garde sartorial leanings, the beer heiress is more often than not spotted sporting the kind of ensembles that thrill some and confuse even more. And on a recent sunny afternoon in NYC, the same was true. New York magazine's Video Look Book caught Guinness on a Manhattan street while in transit to buy coffee.
