It's been a long time coming, but Taco Bell has finally decided to live up to its name by offering its customers authentic Mexican street food-style tacos. Arriving in three varieties—carne asada, chicken, and carnitas—the tacos follow the traditional model of two soft corn tortillas, chopped onions and cilantro, the meat filling, and a wedge of lime for a citrus splash. That's it. New Yorkers and other Americans living in places with large Mexican populations are no doubt familiar with this no frills combination, but others might be surprised to find a taco devoid of cheese, lettuce and tomato. Taco fiend that I am, this was something I had to try. I needed to see how Taco Bell lived up to the originals. Here's how it fared.
