Yesterday a group of nice people from the Santa Barbara Conference + Visitors Bureau + Film Commission dropped by the office to tell me about all the cool things going on in the "American Riviera." I've never been to Santa Barbara, but it seems like the kind of place I'd enjoy, with mornings spent sea kayaking, afternoons visiting nearby wineries, and evenings eating fancy food and listening to mellow music. They brought me a nifty little gift: a cocktail in a box that included (most of) the ingredients for a drink that captures the essence of their fair county. When I got home last night, I followed the directions and mixed up a pair of cocktails for my wife and myself. If Santa Barbara is as nice as the cocktail it inspired, I'll have to pay this magical place a visit.
