Want some un-fun news of the day? The Center for the Study of Women in Television & Film released its gender breakdown of celluloid work in 2011, and it isn't pretty. Nothing confirms this feeling more than Matt Zoller Seitz’ video tribute to the original easy rider, “The Middle Word in Life.” Culling moments big and small from the whole of Hopper’s magnificent career, it’s both a touching and wondrous thing to behold. Video after the jump.

It even happened to these two unfortunate actresses. And we're not talking about Harvey Weinstein's notorious casting dick -- this time, at least.
