Justin Bieber's crew is staging a mutiny over the prospect of the heartthrob's tour going to Japan. The tour is currently in Australia, where some crew members told manager Scooter Braun that they wouldn't go to Osaka and Tokyo on May 17 for fear of radiation from the recent nuclear disaster at Fukushima Daiichi. Braun told the crew, "Man the fuck up and do the right thing by these kids." Sounds like a melodramatic TV movie.

● Lindsay Lohan is headed to trial after rejecting a plea bargain that would have had her facing up to three months in jail -- far less time than the prosecution's desired six months to three years. She's instead taking the case to trail in hopes of maintaining her, um, innocence. [NYDN] ● How I Met Your Mother's Josh Radnor is adding to the canon of college flicks with Liberal Arts, a movie that he's set to both star in and direct. He'll be joined by actual liberal arts student Elizabeth Olsen. [THR] ● MTV has renewed it's once relevant The Real World for at least two more seasons. For those counting: the show's current season, set in Las Vegas and playing out like a sleepy episode of Jersey Shore, represents the 25th season. The 26th is already in casting, meaning this guarantees a 27th and 28th. That's a lot of strangers. THR]

Each subsequent headline about the Japanese nuclear crisis is scarier and more complicated than the last, but someone still needs to explain it all to the kids! The Japanese kids, that is, and the country isn’t taking the responsibility lightly. In order to properly communicate the problem to the wee ones, the government has been broadcasting an animated video which breaks down the ever-mounting crisis in simple terms they can understand—poop. A sick Nuclear Boy is the star of the four and a half minute video, and he is under the care of “doctors” who must regulate his toxic poop.

Gilbert Gottfried has been fired from his job voicing the Aflac duck after a series of not-okay joke tweets about the disastrous quake and tsunami in Japan. Aflac released a statement Monday afternoon, saying that "Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac." Lacking in humor -- true. Also, way too soon. Example from Saturday: "I was talking to my Japanese real estate agent. I said 'is there a school in this area.' She said 'not now, but just wait.'"

● Extra sensitivity is needed as the situation in Japan escalates to terrifying new heights. Gilbert Goddfried, the voice of the Aflac/Afquack duck, was fired after making tasteless jokes on his twitter. Meanwhile, Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon's Hereafter has been pulled from Japanese theaters because of tsunami scenes. She insists that Business School is something she's doing for her female fans. "In order for my company to grow and be the best, and to reach these women, and to serve them, I needed the best," she said, "So I went to the best." The 8.9 magnitude earthquake that shook Japan this morning triggered tsunami warnings as far as Hawaii and the West Coast of the U.S. Late night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, just so happened to be vacationing in French Polynesia when the quake struck, and he immediately began tweeting updates from the island. His first tweet “Suddenly, relaxing on an island in the South Pacific isn't so relaxing anymore. Good thing I brought my aqua stilts,” was met with angry replies from followers who didn’t realize that he wasn’t joking—for once. “Not kidding. That’s where I am,” he wrote. “...and I'll accept the apologies from everyone who called me an asshole and said "fuck you" in advance.”

Probably because they're big and soft and have silly hair, we usually think of sumo wrestlers as gentle giants. But the wrestlers and their sport have been embroiled in scandals in recent months, so much so that next month's grand tournament may be cancelled. And, to make matters worse, not only do the scandals involve gambling and possible mob ties, there's a hairdresser known for his topknots in the middle of it as well.

Just because the Sea Shepherd Conversation Society is the subject of the popular Animal Planet show Whale Wars doesn't mean they want their activists carrying weapons. Sea Shepherd has announced that they're cutting anti-whaling activist Peter Bethune loose because he brought a bow and arrow along for one of their campaigns. The announcement comes as Bethune faces trial in Japan for five charges—trespassing, vandalism, possession of a knife, obstructing business, and assault—resulting from his illegal boarding of a Japanese whaling ship last February. In light of the current trial and the negative publicity that invariably accompanies it, you have to wonder if ditching Bethune was a brutal PR move. If The Wire and The Godfather have taught us anything, it's that you stand by a guy when he's on trial.

With her childish mien and penchant for ridiculous outfits, you'd think Carrie Bradshaw would be big in Japan. Not so, apparently. The woman who dubbed Carrie's voice in the Japanese version of Sex and the City 2 seems irked by the heroine manqué.
