One writer's crusade to booze his way to health

Like our pals on the West Coast, NYC has its own motorcade of fussy, high-end snack trucks, and if anything, we're further along in grumbling about how they're twee-ifying street food. Note that one trend's strong here: it's sugar fiends keeping these Twittering trucks in business. Locals may know enough to leave Magnolia to the tourists, but they still love their cupcakes and cookies. Mommy!

Congratulations to John Rambow of Budget Travel, the "proud" new owner of our Nick Denton with pancakes painting. John once worked for Nick back in Gridskipper times, and obviously the experience left him with a light case of Stockholm syndrome. We all been there, man. Nevertheless, he scored a significant bargain, as he got the painting for less than half of what the remorseful previous buyer paid. New York Cares still gets the full proceeds though, so this story has a happy ending. For now.
