Why a fragrance needs it's own video in the first place, I don't know. But that's the least of my questions about this art-y, five-minute long short film by Steven Klein for Lady Gaga's new Fame fragrance.

Looks like the latest Gaga fashion move is to emulate an Italian Diana Ross: in the new behind-the-scenes fashion video for Vogue, Mother Monster dons an impossibly tall blonde ‘fro while she macks for the cameras. Set to none other than her very own song, “Hair” (how apropos), Gaga puckers her lips, looks super bored as a wind machine blows her false ’do, and shows off some dead foxes on top of her head. Because a soulless star wearing dead animals is always en vogue, right? Check out the video below.

Always one to eschew traditional mediums in favor of edginess, Lady Gaga decided to ink the title of her new album right onto her wrist, then instagrammed it for the whole world to behold. SO EDGY! I might just die right now, with my paws up.

Mother Monster did not disappoint in the recently released promo shot of her newest fragrance, FAME. The Madonna-wannabe assumes a horizontal position and is wearing nothing… save for a few jock-strapped Lilliputians and the necessary illuminati-style mask. According to the back of the box, the perfume, which is dubbed “the first ever black eau de parfum,” will smell like tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot, and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops."

Finally: a day in which the weather wasn’t actively working against us. Well, other than the fact that it was 95 degrees, which after two days of rain and heavy foot traffic led to Union Park smelling like the world’s most depressing petting zoo. Nevertheless, if you’re going to spend the day at an outdoor festival, “hot” beats “rainy” ten times out of ten. And as long as you followed John Dwyer’s (of Thee Oh Sees) advice to “stay hydrated, goddamn it”, it was a solid day to catch some great performances from Milk Music, Thee Oh Sees, The Field, and The Men. Oh, and Lady Gaga was there, if that’s your thing.

Despite the increasing sense of awkwardness, there’s something almost admirable about the Machiavellian way that Madonna courts confrontation. Case in point: This clip of Madge seguing her “Express Yourself” hit into Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” at a rehearsal for a Tel Aviv performance, which surfed on the Internet over the weekend. (“Leaked,” we presume.) Comparisons between the two songs have been noted before, with a few mash-ups presumably showing the smoking gun. For Madonna to so openly evoke the similarities seems like an overt middle finger, along with the slightly creepy way she ends the montage by singing “She’s not me” over and over like some witch doctor trying to ward off the usurping with some ancient incantation.
