If you find the weather outside frightful and are seeking a destination that's delightful, I have an idea. Book yourself a trip to the Bahamas and join the Cain at the Cove 4th Anniversary Party, next Saturday, November 12th. DJ Cassidy will join Stan Courtois from Paris, and the jet-set and Cain flock will be in full force. It could be déjà-vu, all over again. Cain was a legendary club anchoring a West Chelsea gathering of joints that included Bungalow 8, Marquee, and Pink Elephant. Owner Jamie Mulholland has been a little low on the NYC radar compared to then, but his Goldbar, anchored by its smashing Sunday Funday party and man-about-town Jon Lennon, still thrives. His Surf Lodge has just enjoyed its biggest season yet. News comes that something new is in the works, and I asked Jamie all about it, and the anniversary.

I was told to dress in white for Noah Tepperberg's birthday bash at Lavo last night. I normally don't do costumes but there's something about Noah that is undeniable. I complied, wearing white pants, a white shirt and matching sports jacket. Even my hush puppies had white shoelaces. Someone said if I had worn a black tie and was traveling with a little person I could easily be mistaken for Ricardo Montalban from the last season of Fantasy Island.

The culture of nightlife and the culture of hotels is about to change. For years, we have discussed the advantages of nightlife finding a protective home in the bosom of a hotel, with all its services, amenities, insurances, lobbyists, lawyers and all that expensive stuff that operators in non-hotel-based joints need to pay for on their own. Hotels are more than ever before driven by their food and beverage establishments. Plus, they come packed with rooms filled with guests who have the best money there is: vacation money.

This weekend was spent walking dogs, DJing, and watching war movies -- 3 of my 5 favorite things. As the city emptied out, those who are not inclined to wallow in traffic and party like it's 1999 enjoyed the relative quiet. Clubs in NYC were quiet as well, with many joints closing, and others pared down to skeletal staffs. With almost every real DJ cashing in out of town, guys like me had a chance. On Thursday, I opened for my friend Paul Sevigny at the roof garden of the glorious Hudson Hotel.

There were a few times this winter when the summer seemed as impossibly distant as an Oscar for Tom Cruise. I still look for patches of tough snow when I walk the puppies through McCarren Park, and yet here we are, less than 2 weeks away from the summer season. The big news on the Hamptons party circuit is the redux of the Tavern space in Southampton as South Pointe. Leading the charge at South Pointe is Jonathan Schwartz, a one time promoter who has often been associated with Noah Tepperberg, Jason Strauss, and The Strategic Group.

Tomorrow's can’t-miss event is a toss-up between the 2-year anniversary of the W Hoboken, which I may actually attend, and Andrew Goldberg's birthday bash at Avenue. Amanda might not be able to make it to Jersey (something about allergies), so I’ll be looking for a ho to bring to Hoboken.

With our very own Victor Ozols putzing around Las Vegas this week, I've been fixating on all the fun he must be having while we sit here tethered to our desks. (Victor—we've eaten all your desk candy! The elevator is broken!) Now we've just learned that The Cosmopolitan has opened its pool—make that "Pool District"—and we're bursting with Jack Pot-like jealousy in a way that only a colony of newly-built pools in the dry, warm desert could make us.

In an e-mail I received on Friday, my longtime friend Friday Patrick Robertson announced that he is “no longer working at The Darby.” Patrick, of course, was the long time GM at Marquee. He's a nightclub manager who found himself manning the helm at The Darby, which is a restaurant, after leaving Marquee and traveling back to his native South Africa. I felt he left the country to diffuse discontent, as he did go from the powerhouse Strategic Group to the 1OAK/Butter crew.
