OCVDAY

Let's face it: Valentine's Day is really for the ladies. Whether it's flowers, chocolates, expensive dinners, or Prada keychains, men have a plethora of foolproof girly gifts to fall back on when they're down to the wire. As for women: not so much. Sure, we can always throw on some sexy lingerie if all else fails, but that would require us to get out of our comfy warm pajamas—and it's too cold for that nonsense.

Today on Opening Ceremony's blog, New News, they interviewed the model that designer Tara Subkoff hand-picked to represent her Imitiation of Christ line on the concept retailer's website. The subject, Sasha Owen-Longfellow, is a part-time model and full-time blogger living in Brooklyn. Although her physical features are whimsically delicate, and her poses are classically demure, don't let them fool you, because she's funny and gives quirky interview answers.

To chime in on the various best-of roundups floating around the web, Opening Ceremony has put together a list of this year's favorite movies, books, songs, fashion moments and more. A nice twist on their effort is that they asked a bunch of their famous friends to declare their picks, including Nicola Formichetti, Spike Jonze, Jason Schwartzman, and The Misshapes. They also tapped a few internet-famous people, too, like photoblogger Tommy Ton, who selected Belgian model Hanne Gaby (pictured) for best street style.

Chloe Sevigny, a self-described pack rat, has opened the doors to her East Village apartment to help promote her new resort line for Opening Ceremony. A new video explores her closet, in which she pulls a number of curious objects like the bunny ears from Gummo and some S&M accessories, as well as some envy-inducing items like a sketch by Alber Elbaz when he was at YSL.

Kanye West isn't the only American people are talking about at Paris Fashion Week. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim sent their looks for Kenzo down the runway today, just two months after taking over for creative director Antonio Marras. Charged with reinvigorating the brand which reached popularity in the 1970s, it looks like they succeeded. Unlike the mixed response for the rapper's line, the general consensus seems to be positive. If you like Opening Ceremony, you'll agree.

Although an exhausting first day of NYFW made me want to curl up in the fetal position and weep, I broke away from my sanctuary at the Renaissance Times Square to explore our recommended Fashion's Night Out offerings. One standout event was Opening Ceremony's Argentina-themed carnival at the Ace Hotel. From Belvedere vodka-spiked snow cones to a live Miss Piggy performance, OC founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon (above, welcoming the guest of honor) hosted an evening of inventive nostalgia that kept everyone partying until the wee hours of the night.

It's no surprise that we're big fans of avant-garde designer, Martin Margiela. That's why we're loving the visual history that Opening Ceremony compiled of Maison Martin Margiela's renowned work, hot off the heels of OC's recent collaboration with Margiela's sister label, MM6. See a few of our favorite images, like the above series of Chloë Sevigny modeling the 2000 "Oversized" collection, after the jump.

We tip our hat to whoever does the casting over at H&M, because the Swedish retailer has just about every top model lining up to be in their campaigns. In the last year alone, Gisele Bündchen graced the Spring 2011 catalogue, followed by Natasha Poly for Summer, with Sasha Pivovarova and Karlie Kloss covering the Fall lookbooks. And H&M's latest campaign is just as impressive.
