We remember the '90s for many things – the invention of fruit roll-ups, the growing up of the gang from Saved by the Bell, and of course, countless '90s TV stars who were smoking hot – whether we realized it at the time or not. From Kelly Packard to Elizabeth Berkley, the small screen was graced with more than a fair share of attractive women (and, more commonly perhaps, girls). Below we’ve compiled a list of 20 of our favorites that are still easy on the eyes and equally light on the acting chops.

My travels and travails took me to Miami, so I missed what must have been the very amusing A*MUSE fashion show, where former Heatherette designer Richie Rich debuted his latest collection. The event featured my favorite PETA player Pamela Anderson, along with Terrell Owens, CariDee English, Tinsley Mortimer and Amanda Lepore. I was also told that Richie and Pamela also debuted their new single “Hi” for the grand finale of the “Hot for Teacher” themed fashion show.

There’s a familiar tocsin that goes off in my head each time I hear that a classic film is being re-made. I understand the motivations—either cashing in on a brand (Charlie & the Chocolate Factory), well-meaning but usually foolish homage (Cape Fear), or both—but in a perfect world, I would rather see lousy pictures improved upon than great ones brought low, which is almost universally the outcome. So it was with a distinct ringing in my ears that I learned Kate Winslet and director Todd Haynes are re-making Michael Curtiz’ 1945 film noir classic, Mildred Pierce. I can think of few films in less need of monkeying with, and even fewer Joan Crawford roles in which the actress seems more irreplaceable. True, the new production will be a five hour mini-series for HBO rather than a feature, and I imagine will hew more closely to the original James M. Cain novel, but this only diminishes my skepticism in part. I can’t help but recall the last unfortunate occasion when someone tried to re-jigger a much-loved Michael Curtiz film. Behold the height of cinematic odium after the jump!

Sex tapes. They're like porn films, except dimly lit with less appealing actors. Oh, and the sound is bad. Also, sometimes the bodies are green on account of the infrared, a necessity due to the previously mentioned dim lighting. So unless you have a Kermit fetish or enjoy watching very unattractive people with inept camera sense engage in poorly directed intercourse, the average amateur sex tape probably doesn't do it for you. That being said, celebrity sex tapes are an entirely different beast with two (or more) backs.

It looks like Gwyneth Paltrow isn't the only celebrity recently bitten by the designing bug. Add Pamela Anderson to the roster of Hollywood stars crossing over into fashion. While Anderson recently played mused to and starred in ads for Brit sartorial maven Vivienne Westwood, Elle UK says Anderson has teamed up with longtime friend designer Richie Rich (formerly the face behind Heatherette) to create "a collection of leather free shoes and casual pieces entitled Muse." Considering Anderson's style definitely leans more towards the envelope-pushing (think no pants and high heels a la Lady Gaga), there's a good chance the eco-friendly collaboration won't produce frocks for the fashion faint of heart.

In an economic climate where everybody seems to be poor, poor, poor, it's only natural the perfect antidote be rich, rich, rich--or, in this case, Richie Rich, the illustrious other half of the now-defunct Heatherette and recent BlackBook interviewee. Last night Richie showed his true colors, forcing the recession to take a recess.

imageIt's likely that while the paparazzi look away, Vivienne Westwood and Pamela Anderson swap schoolgirlish post-its that proclaim in sparkling pink ink: "PAM + VIV BFF 4EVZ." And having won over ardent fans in artists Jeff Koons and David LaChapelle, it only makes sense that Pamela's appeal would span high art to high fashion. But Koons and LaChapelle probably make it their prerogative to be in touch with Anderson (after all, what good is an artist without his muse?), unlike Westwood. “I’m not a telephone person,” says the designer. “I don’t have a mobile. I can’t be bothered to communicate with people unless I have something very important to say.”
