Last week, Peter Som was all set to leave fashion institution Bill Blass after receiving word that there would be no spring 2009 runway show come September. However, this week, Som is said to be sticking it out, working to finish the spring 2009 collection. Why the change of heart? The awesome power of fashion high priestess Anna Wintour, of course. The New York Post reports that Wintour, who played a large part in Som getting hired at Bill Blass in the first place, talked Som into staying late last week. This is a tough time at Bill Blass, and they need Som's designer-name power behind them. Their backer, Nexcam, has put the company on the auction block due to looming debt. A NYP source says it's up to the new owner to "'cut their own deal with [Som] and romance him'."
