In case you missed it, a series of charming self-portraits by a macaque monkey in Indonesia came about recently when a nature photographer left his camera unattended. A smart monkey found it and started taking pictures of herself. They're charming. But humans have gone and ruined it, as they are wont to do, by squabbling about copyright issues.

Yesterday evening, a new Wednesday night party got off to a promising start at GunBar, that new Disneyland dive bar (think underground space, graffiti-filled walls, and really, really clean) in the Meatpacking District, when BlackBook and Heineken gave a bunch of youngsters a good reason to blow off work the next day.

It's all in the attitude, the at-tit-tude.

On Tuesday, summer officially began (according to the calendar, anyway—we'd argue it began when the subways turned on their air conditioning), and to celebrate, we threw a little shindig on—where else?—a rooftop. But this wasn't just any old rooftop, you see. Manhattan has plenty of those. This was the roof at the Hotel Chantelle, a brand new oasis amidst the concrete canyons of the Lower East Side, that with it's tiles and topiary, felt more Paris salon than New York roof, and that's pretty good.

After years of whispers, Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life is finally in theaters, and to mark the occasion, we're putting the spotlight on its breakout star, Jessica Chastain.
