Porn star Sasha Grey, best known for her roles in such hits as Throat: A Cautionary Tale and F%ck Slaves, did the most scandalous thing of her career yesterday: she read to school kids.  Parents of Emerson Elementary school are telling her to get straight out of Compton, CA and away from their impressionable young ins, but she’s fighting for her right to story time.

Hold onto your razors, the bush is back! In April, The Cut made note of a particular fashion editorial in which plus-size model Crystal Renn's pubic hair was plentifully on view. Well, now it seems the trend is catching on in both the digital sphere and in pop culture—if porn and Entourage are to be believed. Just this past week, porn star and Steven Soderbergh leading lady (not to mention BlackBook twitter companion) Sasha Grey made a return appearance on the HBO series, in which she's been playing Adrian Grenier's love interest for a few episodes. But it wasn't her acting chops that stirred a formidable tweet typhoon Sunday night. It was her fully-grown pubic hair. Actually, "it was the Pube-pocalypse," says Salon in a story titled, 'Sasha Grey sparks bush backlash.'

For such a youngster, Sasha Grey has already had a long, storied career in the porn industry. We've chronicled it here, here, here, and here. But she's never been shy about her dreams of crossover success (while still maintaining her love for the adult industry). We're not talking about the kind of crossover success achieved by someone like Jenna Jameson (autobiography, owning your own adult entertainment company, etc.). Grey wanted to be a movie star, like her idol, French New Wave starlet Anna Karina. Getting cast in the lead of the 2009 Steven Soderbergh call girl movie The Girlfriend Experience was certainly a good start. Guesting on this season of Entourage as Vincent Chase's love interest is not a bad follow-up. But both those roles exploit Grey's sexual aura (In Entourage she's actually starring as herself). How could she ever be considered a "serious actress" if we keep getting reminded she used to fuck for a living?
