Ever since blogger Sheena Matheiken launched the Uniform Project, which finished in June, the trend of maximizing one's thriftiness by relying on just a few wardrobe stables to anchor countless outfits has caught on. Following in Matheiken's footsteps is "What Not To Wear: The Six Items Or Less Project," which sprouted up the same month the Uniform Project wrapped. Now, author and recent LA transplant Lesley Arfin is taking up where Matheiken left off.

Sustainability has been a buzzword in the fashion industry for seasons. But keeping the concept fresh has proved a difficult barrier in the road towards fashion truly going green. Interestingly enough it was school uniforms that sparked a recent eco-friendly undertaking titled The Uniform Project, in which Sheena Matheiken took on the challenge of reinventing the same dress every day for an entire year. Armed with one dress, as well as a wide array of accessories and options for layering, Matheiken embarked on "a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for slum children in India."
